Transfer Requirements

• Official transcripts: Official high school and college transcripts are required.
• SAT Scores: MassArt will no longer require standardized test scores (SAT/ACT) as part of our admission requirements. If you choose to submit test scores, the SAT MassArt school code is 3516. The ACT MassArt school code is 1846.
• Letters of recommendation: Letters of recommendation can be very helpful when considering your application. It is best to choose someone who can discuss your potential as a student, your motivation, skills, experience and character.
• Essay: The application essay gives you an opportunity to express yourself in words and gives the Admissions Committee more insight into who you are as a person.
• Application fee: 70 USD
• Other requirements: Digital portfolios are required. Transfer credit will be calculated based on the examples provided. We require a resume/list of activities including employment, service and extracurricular activities such as school clubs.

What GPA Do I Need To Get Into MassArt?

The average GPA at Massachusetts College of Art and Design is 3.45. With a GPA of 3.45, Massachusetts College of Art and Design requires you to be about average in your high school class.

MassArt has extended the priority admissions deadline for the Fall 2022 semester to February 15, 2022. Applications submitted by February 15 are given priority consideration for admission, scholarships, and housing.

International applicants are strongly encouraged to apply before this deadline to allow enough time to complete the documentation to support their visa application.

The Admissions Committee begins reviewing completed applications in January. Applications received after the priority deadlines are considered on a rolling basis, subject to availability. Complete your application early to receive your decision on time.

FIRST-TIME COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY: DECEMBER 1

If MassArt is your first college choice, you may want to consider Early Action. This option is for students in good academic standing who have completed their portfolio by December 1st.

Decisions on early action applicants are published in early January. To participate in early action, you must:

• Submit all application requirements by December 1st
• Indicate your interest in Early Action in your application

Note that if you are not accepted into Early Action, you will not be automatically reviewed before the regular deadlines. Also, if you are not accepted through the Early Action program, you will have to wait a year to reapply.

Early adoption is not the same as early decision, which is mandatory; you are not required to attend MassArt if you accept Early Action, and you will have until May 1st (the universal RSVP deadline) to decide whether you will attend.
